1940s Grana Kurth Frères With Original Tag

1940s Grana Kurth Frères With Original Tag

Why This Watch Matters

If there was only one good reason to love this Grana, it would definitely be for the black gilt dial. Luckily, the NOS condition and fancy lugs don't hurt either...

The Full Story

Grana Kurth Frères might not sound like a familiar brand name, but you probably do know the manufacture. It actually changed its name in 1939, one year after its 50th Anniversary, and became Certina. For the following few years, its watches were christened with one of the two names, explaining the branding of this dress watch from the 1940s. The black gilt dial is the clear highlight of this piece, although its perfect condition should not be underestimated either. It really accentuates the thin, elegant case and its curved lugs. A stunning package that still comes with the original hang tags, confirming that it actually remained untouched over the past 70 years.

The watch is absolutely stunning, in an impeccable condition. The case looks obviously unpolished, and its lugs have kept their enchanting curves. The mix of applied indexes and Arabic numerals is very elegant, keeping with the general spirit of this watch. Furthermore, the watch comes with the original hang tag, proving that it was never sold by the original Spanish retailer.
