1950s Royce Antimagnetic Dress Watch

1950s Royce Antimagnetic Dress Watch

Why This Watch Matters

This 1950s Royce features a nice 38mm case and an interesting textured dial finish.

The Full Story

This Royce Antimagnetic example brings out an attractive design element that often appeared in designs from the 1950s. Royce was owned by Montres Sylvan Kocher & Cie in Bevilard, Switzerland, which also operated the more well-known Eska Watch Company. A well-sized 38mm case with a narrow bezel maximized the dial area and allowed for some creativity. The outer area of the dial has this very unusual textured finish that gives it the feel of a guilloché engine-turned finish, but in fact, this illusion is achieved with an intricate layered wave pattern. The numerals, indexes, and hands are softly adorned with a warm, pink-gold hue, making this watch even more attractive.
