1970s Certina DS-2 Automatic

1970s Certina DS-2 Automatic

Why This Watch Matters

This Certina DS-2 boasts a rich history and a bright blue dial that is hard to resist.

The Full Story

Certina has a rather interesting history. Originally founded by the Kurth brothers in 1888, the manufacture first produced movements and later watches under the name Grana. In 1939 the name was changed to Certina, and they started producing automatic watches in the 1940s and then the DS series like the one you see here. The caliber 25-651 was a first introduced in 1960 and was in production until 1977. The 25-651M used in this example is a later iteration of the caliber that was produced from 1975 onward. This example features a blue dial with orange accents, all housed in a tonneau stainless-steel case. We think you’ll love this sweet dive watch as much as we do.
