1970s Wittnauer Geneve Professional Chronograph

1970s Wittnauer Geneve Professional Chronograph

Why This Watch Matters

This Wittnauer could be described as a chronograph with charisma. Between its burgundy bezel and its distinctive handset, this chrono stands out from the rest and looks crazy good on the wrist.

The Full Story

Wittnauer, mostly known as the main Longines U.S. importer, also made some pretty serious watches back in the day. This Professional Chronograph is a strong example of a vintage Wittnauer, with its large steel case and cool black dial. The burgundy bezel adds depth to the overall look and feel of the watch, with a matching 30-minute register. These chronographs were underestimated for a long time but are on the path to becoming the next hot ticket item.

What we Love and What You Should Know

This watch is in great condition, with a case that appears to be unpolished, and very sharp lugs. The dial has fantastic patina and the lume on the indexes is still intact. The handset features the large hour hand that can be found on other models; the lume on the hands is slightly more yellow than the indexes, but this is normal for this watch. One thing to note is that the lollipop seconds hand is smaller than normal, leading us to believe that it may have been replaced in the past. The rotating bezel is in great condition with the exception of the missing lume plot, light scratches, and slight ding at the 60 mark.
